On Networking
Introverts often find it hard to social with people and expand their connections. But if you believe in the power of a good network, then it's actually something that you should work and invest on.
Invest in networking like how you exercise as an investment in your health and fitness, or like how you invest in dividend-yielding stocks for dividend and capital gains.
It won't be easy, but here are 2 quick and easy tips that will make everything easier.
Set a Goal
Set a goal to get introductions and meet a certain number of people in a specified time frame. You can start low – let's say 1 new person per month. In a year, you'd have met 12 new persons. If you increase it to 1 per week, then you'd be meeting up with 52 new persons a year. Getting 1 good connection out of 12 might be a stretch, but getting out of 52? That sounds way more realistic.
Focus on the process of meeting people and not on the end result of "making valuable connections. That way, you'd enjoy the process and be less stressed about not getting results.
Think of Value Exchange
Meeting new people should not be the end goal by itself. Always be thinking of what value can be exchanged. Ask where the other party is having problems / bottlenecks that you might be able to help with. Everyone's going through some kind of hardship at any moment and a 3rd party's advise can bring surprising new insights. By thinking of value exchange, you will also be more confident in any exchange with the other party.
These 2 things will help you expand your network and get more valuable connections for life and business.
